Ports Close As Storms Arrive *UPDATE

21th February 2022 ***Update

Storm Franklin has caused further disruption with many port operations now suspended.

Most ports were temporarily open for a few hours between storms  at the weekend. Unfortunately, the ongoing situation is likely to have an impact on many collections and deliveries during this week.

Storm Eunice has started to batter the UK today, and with red weather warnings issued for the South West, East and South East, logistics are already being impacted.

The ports of Felixstowe, London Gateway and Southampton are closed until further notice, and that will impact container transport today and probably into next week.

Many port collection bookings for today and tomorrow have been cancelled, which means many deliveries may not be made for Monday, and backlogs could impact bookings later in the week.

General transport across many UK regions will be seriously disrupted today, as trucks are particularly vulnerable to high winds meaning we can expect a limited service. Roads may also be blocked by fallen trees and debris.

Airfreight could be impacted too, with the probability of flight cancellations later today.

The Killick Martin team are monitoring the situation closely, and will be in touch with affected customers as information becomes clearer during the day.
