In support of this years Mental Health Awarness Week, and the Mental Health Foundation, Killick Martin & Company are proud to announce that we will be sponsoring the ‘THE SPACE-IN-BETWEEN’ stage at this years Village Green Festival, organised by Metal and taking place in Chalkwell Park, Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex on the 13th July.
The Stage will host Performance, poetry, singing, comedy, games and some feel good pampering exploring mental health, disability and the feeling of being ‘other’.
SK Shlomo will be headlining the stage. He has recently collaborated on projects with Ed Sheeran, Bjork and Damon Albarn. The record-breaking beatboxer turns electronic singer-songwriter will be celebrating the release of his latest album Surrender, blending his innovative live-looping and breathtaking beatboxing with epic synths, crushingly honest lyrics and lush electronic layers. Massive Attack meets James Blake. His current album, deals with SK Shlomo’s own mental health journey.
Metal was founded in London in 2002 by Jude Kelly CBE, who is also Artistic Director of the Southbank Centre in London, and are presently active in Liverpool since 2004, in Southend-on-Sea since 2007 and in Peterborough since 2012. In each place, Metal work from buildings of historic significance that we have transformed from empty or derelict spaces into vibrant cultural community hubs. From these bases, they work to provide the catalyst that can transform the potential of people and places through great art and inspiring ideas.
Village Green is a multi-art form and music festival, produced by Metal in the picturesque grounds of a beautiful Victorian park in Chalkwell, Westcliff-on-Sea. This year marks the 10th Anniversary of the Festival. On Friday 12th July Village Green ‘Next Generation’ will take place. A free event for over 5,000 local school children and their teachers. The main event the next day will see an attendance of over 20,000 visitors, and this years festival will see over 400 artists perform on 14 stages. This years headliners for the Village Green Festival are ‘Busted’, themselves from Southend-on-Sea, winners of two ‘Brit Awards and with 4 No. 1 charting singles.
